Compatibility note: Fortinet recommends matching the FortiAP firmware version with the respective FortiOS version when available. Other combinations may work for the lowest common feature set; if problems arise, Fortinet Support may recommend upgrading to a matched version first.
Check a specific pair
Useful when you already know the AP model and the FortiOS version and just want the pairing.
Choose an AP model and a FortiOS version, then check the pair.
How to read this: each pairing shows the FortiAP firmware version from Fortinet's official matrix. Not supported means Fortinet lists no pairing for that combination. FortiOS columns that cover a range (for example 7.4.10 ~ 7.4.13) share one FortiAP version across the whole range.
Notes from Fortinet's matrix: some E-series FortiGate models may not be able to manage FAP-23JK and FAP-231K running firmware version 7.4.5 (marked * in the FortiOS 7.4 table). FortiGates running FortiOS 7.4.0 and later do not support legacy FortiAP models (B, C and D series). Legacy models marked * in the FortiOS 7.2 table do not support strong ciphers; Fortinet's matrix page lists the CLI settings that allow the connection.
